FAQs: Frequently Asked Questions

Simply put, our charge will be the amount of money we save you during your first 3 months after switching. Therefore there is NO net cost to you, and after 3 months you keep all of the savings. Our fee can be paid in 3 monthly installments or you may choose to pay the entire fee up front for a 10% discount.

For example, let’s say your new plans save you $50 per month on your mobile phone service and $30 per month on Internet/Wifi service, for a total savings of $80 per month. You would owe us 3 monthly payments of $80 each, for a total of $240. But since you would have been paying that extra $80 every month anyway, there is effectively no out-of-pocket cost1. Or you can pay $216 up front ($240 - 10% discount). After the first 3 months, all of the ongoing savings are yours to keep! So in this example you would save 9 X $80 = $720 the first year and 12 x $80 = $960 every year after that!

1Note that some carriers such as Mint Mobile require you to pay for 3 months in advance or will offer you a better deal if you pay a year in advance. Some providers may also charge an installation fee or new customer fee, though we can often help you negotiate to get these fees waived.

The main thing to know is that we’re a new business, which means this special deal may only be available for a limited time. In the future, we may need to adjust pricing to reflect 4–6 months of savings for new customers.

Because we’re still building our experience, we ask for your patience as we work through occasional challenges. We’re committed to resolving any issues quickly and making sure you’re taken care of every step of the way.

With enough time, effort, patience, and knowledge you can absolutely do the same thing yourself! For that matter, you could also change the oil in your car and replace your own roof shingles. As with any paid service, you are paying for our expertise and our time, while we save you effort and frustration. Keep reading our FAQs for some examples of issues you might run into and how we can help.Just remember, the longer you procrastinate before doing it yourself, the more money you are wasting.

We love repeat business! Seriously, most providers will negotiate. If not, hire us again and we will switch you again. Or you may not need our help to switch the second time.

All providers use one of three sets of towers: T-Mobile, Verizon, or AT&T. We maintain a list of the towers used by every low-cost provider. We can meet you at your house or nearby and you can try out phones on all 3 networks to see for yourself if you can get good service near your house. Or if you prefer, we can do a “drive by” at an address you provide, and send you a video showing our findings at that location. This is a service that ONLY UltimateBillCutter provides, and it is at no extra cost!

Mobile Service providers change their deals every day. We keep up with the latest offers and can show you a list for comparison. Note that we don’t have any “inside” deals with any particular providers, we simply help select the right plan for you with a provider who has good service in your neighborhood at a good price.

For quick examples, Mint Mobile (T-mobile network) typically offers a plan with unlimited voice and txt plus 5GB data for $15/month, 15GB for $25/month, or unlimited data for $30/month. Visible (Verizon network) currently offers a plan with unlimited voice, txt, and data for $19 month (but with video limited to 480p and hot spot speed limited), or $26 per month with 1080p video and twice the speed on your hotspot.

Yes, we can do that!

These days most carriers include Mobile Hotspot even in their low-cost plans, but the details and data speed can vary. We can show you a comprehensive comparison of all low-cost mobile carriers.

If you purchased your phone from certain providers such as AT&T, the phone may be Locked so that it can only be used on their network. Most carries now unlock your phone once you have met your contract requirements. We can check whether your phone is Locked and which networks it is compatible with. We can also help you get it Unlocked if necessary, subject to permission from your current provider.

Yes, you can keep your existing phone number. You should be able to keep your existing phone as long as you have met your contract obligations with your existing carrier. The only possible hitch is that in the past some phones purchased from AT&T were not compatible with the Verizon and T-Mobile networks, but this is becoming less prevalent with newer phones. We can pre-check which networks your phone is compatible with.

You can keep your existing phone number. Although we don’t currently sell phones, we can guide you in getting a good deal on a new phone. We highly recommend buying or financing your new phone yourself rather than getting locked into a contract in exchange for a “free” phone.

Yes, we can help. Note that there may be an extra charge for “complicated” migrations that require a lot of our technician’s time.

No, sorry this is outside of our business model. But note that providers that offer to pay off your contract will require you to sign a contract with them, locking you in to a contract AGAIN. Our advice is to wait until your current contract is over, then switch to a no-contract plan. If you need help, please reach out to us as your contract is about to expire.

Sorry, no. But beware of anyone that makes such an offer. There is no free lunch … SOMEBODY is paying Apple $800+ for every iPhone17. Any carrier that offers you a ‘free” iPhone17 will require a contract where they are guaranteed to make back that $800 plus a hefty profit via your monthly bills. If you must have the latest iPhone, your best bet is to buy an unlocked iPhone17 and pay up front or finance it, and then activate an inexpensive prepaid service such as Mint Mobile, Visible, or similar. We can give you advice on where to get the best deal. But if you can live with a less leading-edge Android smartphone such as a Samsung Galaxy A16, you can buy a smartphone for around $150.

Absolutely! We can personally meet you to let you try a hands-on comparison of an iPhone Pro 14 versus a Samsung Galaxy A16. We expect to have more models for comparison soon as our business grows.

We can help with that. If you’re interested in researching yourself, this is a good resource: https://broadbandmap.fcc.gov/home

We can help with that. Our founder spent over 20 years as an engineer in the computer networking field and can give you an honest, unbiased opinion about how much bandwidth you really need, unlike providers like Spectrum who will try to talk you into a plan that is massive overkill for your needs. Spoiler alert, 300Mbps service is more than sufficient for 95% of households and can support multiple TVs streaming 4K video, multiple family members on Zoom calls, multiple gamers, etc.

Yes, we can help with that. If the new service provider’s technician does not set up your Wifi to your satisfaction or if you do a self-install, we can help tweak your Wifi name and password, etc. to your preferences.

We are exploring offering additional tech services such as these, but haven’t worked out the pricing yet. Please let us know what you’re looking for and we can discuss.

We are exploring offering help with this, but it can be very tricky depending on MANY factors such as what channels you watch, how many TVs you have, and your willingness to adapt to a new way of “flipping channels”. But we are happy to discuss.
